The long-term goal of our research is to study the molecular mechanisms of insulin signal transduction, insulin resistance and associated cardiovascular dysfunction, aiming at nutritional and therapeutic intervention for control of metabolic and cardiovascular disorders. My laboratory is focused on the study of cellular signaling and gene transcriptional regulation of metabolic homeostasis that are governed by the PI3Kâ†’Aktâ†’FoxO pathway, with the hope of understanding how dysregulation of this pathway in insulin/IGF-1 action causes liver damage, cardiovascular dysfunction, and pancreatic beta cell failure, resulting in diabetes, obesity, and organ failure. Our research encompasses several areas. Firstly, we will decode the mechanism of insulin resistance and associated cardiovascular dysfunction. It is known that excess nutrients cause or accelerate insulin resistance, investigating how nutrient-mediated signaling activates intracellular mediators that attenuate the insulinâ†’IRSâ†’Aktâ†’FoxO signaling pathway will provide a powerful platform for nutritional and therapeutic intervention for the treatment of diabetes and cardiovascular disorders. The discovery of bioactive compounds, functional food, peptides, nucleotides, or stem cells that increase gene expression of IRS or promote FoxO phosphorylation and ubiquitination will promote drug development and provide new insights on nutritional and therapeutic targets. Secondly, we will define the roles of FoxO proteins in insulin signaling and insulin resistance through creation of cell lines and animal models in which FoxO is either eliminated by a genetic â€œknock-outâ€ or increased by overexpression. This will also include studies utilizing the technique of tissue specific gene inactivation or activation (knock-in) to determine the role of FoxO in various tissues, including classic and non-classic target tissues for insulin action, such as liver and heart. Lastly, we will explore the novel players mediating insulin actions, as well as other hormones including glucagon, in control of energy metabolism and survival. We have taken advantage of IRS and FoxO genetically engineered mouse and cell models with analyses in genomics, proteomics, and metabolomics, to better define the physiological connections between metabolic regulation and FoxO in intracellular signaling networks.

Prof.Dr.Sawsan Amer, starting higher school 1972 , obtained her B.Pharmaceutical chemistry 1977. She worked as Pharmaceutical researcher in National Research Centre from 1977 -1980 & M.Sc.1980 from Cairo University, faculty of pharmacy ,Egypt Assistant Lecturer 1980, Lecturer1985 & Assistant professor in Analytical Chemistry Department, Faculty of Pharmacy Cairo University 1995 She has completed her PhD at the age of 31 years in 1985 from Cairo University. She is Full Professor from 2003-present & Head of Analytical Chemistry Department Faculty of pharmacy Cairo University from 2010- 2015. She worked as a lecturer in Faculty of Science in 1993 & as a professor in college of Pharmacy , King Saud University , Saudi Arabia. She has published more than 65 papers in reputed journals and has been serving as an editorial board member of Bulletin faculty of pharmacy, Cairo University & reviewer in journal of Talanta , Analytical Chemica Acta, Spectrochemica Acta, Saudi Pharmaceutical Journal & many Others . She is a member of the Syndicate of Pharmacists, the Professional Society of Pharmacists, Egypt, the Society of Analytical Chemistry, Egypt , and in the Society of Saudi Chemists. She has supervised about 30 master & PhD thesis. Also she was involved in judging committee for more than 25 thesis

Liming Ye obtained his Ph. D. degree in 2008 from West China School of Pharmacy, Sichuan University, Chengdu, Sichuan Province, RP China. He is Professor of Pharmaceutical Analysis in West China School of Pharmacy, Sichuan University. His research interest is in the area of basic components analysis, the dynamic change rule study and standardization research of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), as well as the establishment and study of predictive quantitative retention-activity relationship models of series medicine by biopartitioning micellar chromatography (BMC).

Isabel DesgagnÃ©-Penix has completed her PhD in Cell and Molecular Biology in 2008 from the University of Texas at San Antonio and postdoctoral studies in plant biochemistry at the University of Calgary. She has expertise with medicinal plant metabolism specifically with molecule of the alkaloid category. She is the director of the plant specialized metabolism research laboratory. She has published numerous papers in reputed journals and has been serving as an editorial board member of the journal of Plant Studies.

Sergey Suchkov (Biography)
Sergey Suchkov was born in the City of Astrakhan, Russia, in a family of dynasty medical doctors. In 1980, Suchkov graduated from Astrakhan State Medical University and was awarded with MD. During the studentship Suchkov was extensively involved into research in the area of ocular immunology and won in 1980 the First Prize at the First International Contest among the Medical Students in Praque. In 1985, Suchkov maintained his PhD as a PhD student of the I.M. Sechenov Moscow Medical Academy and Institute of Medical Enzymology, USSR Academy of Medical Sciences, Moscow, Russia. In 2001, Suchkov finished the PostDoc Research Fellowship Program and maintained his Doctor Degree at the National Institute of Immunology, Russia. From 1985 through 1987, Dr Suchkov worked as a Post Doc Research Associate, Department of Medical Biotechnology, Institute of Medical Enzymology, USSR Academy of Medical Sciences to be involved into research in clinical enzymology and applications of DNA-dependent enzymes in clinical medicine. From 1987 through 1989, Dr Suchkov was a senior Researcher, Lab of Developmental Immunology, Koltzov Institute of Developmental Biology, USSR Academy of Sciences to deal to developmental immunology. From 1989 through 1995, Dr Suchkov was being a Head of the Lab of Clinical Immunology and Immunobiotechnology, Helmholtz Eye Research Institute in Moscow. From 1995 through 2004, Dr Suchkov was being a Chairman of the Dept for Clinical Immunology, Moscow Clinical Research Institute (MONIKI) and the Immunologist-in-Chief of the Moscow Regional Ministry of Health. Andrey Nikolaevych Belousov graduate from Kharkov Medical Institute in 1988. Doctor of Medicine degree on speciality - AnÂ¬esthesiology and Intensive Care since 2004. The title dissertation: â€œExtracorporal hemocorrection using magnet-controlled sorbent in intensive therapy of intoxication syndromes in patients with hepatopancreatoduodenales disÂ¬easesâ€. Author a new medecine products â€“ nanotechnology preparations based on magnetite nanoparticles (Fe3O4) of the size 6-12 nm (www.nanolab.com.ua): the peroral form - Micromage-B (the biologically active additive officially registration in Ukraine); Magnet-controlled sorbent brand of MCS-B for extracorporal detoxication of biological liquids (officially registration in Ukraine and was allowed for medical practice); NanoBiocorrector for intravenous application â€“ ICNB (intracorporal nanosorbent). A.N. Belousov is author new method of extracorporal hemocorrection using magnet-controlled sorÂ¬bent (MCS-B). Author a new program for estimation degree the severity of the patient. Based on previously developed a universal analytical system of the physiological state of the body (PHUAS) by the author proposed a new automatic program objective assessment of the severity of the patient's condition. Overall, the program can improve health of the population in terms of underfunding by the rapid and objective examination of a large quantity of people. Early on, with the help of the developed program is made possible among surveyed identify risk groups in the severity of general condition, to determine the optimal and effective options for prevention and treatment, saving time and money for the survey, use the data to correlate them with various factors influence of the environment (ecology, nutrition, addictions, drug, vaccine, methods of intensive therapy, pharmacotherapy, etc.). The published more 180 scientific works on results application of nanotechnology preparation in experimental and practical medicine. He has got 7 patents for the invention, 21 collected scientific articles, 68 works in other publications and thesis of reports at international conferences and congresses, including 35 of them abroad (Rumania, Austria, Germany, Czech, Switzerland, Hungary, Denmark, Portugal, Italy, Canada, U.S.A., China, India, and others). Author of the scientific film which focuses on the elaboration of artificial liver device and the development of a new direction in medicine â€“ Nanotechnology. Andrey Belousov was awarded Medical Diploma of Europe â€œAn Honorary Scholar Europeâ€ and R.
